Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chief Minister, Bihar thanked the Union Government
for giving extra allocation of power from Dadri and Barh Thermal Power Station,
but at the same time requested for another allocation of 300 MW. The Union
Power Ministry has given assurance that the request would be favorably
examined.
The Chief Minister met Union Power Minister, Shri Piyush
Goyal in his office at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi and apprised him the latest power position of Bihar and argued
for adequate central assistance in this regard. Shri Manjhi also requested to
expedite the COD of R & M of 110 MW unit of Barauni Thermal Power Station
and Kanti Thermal Power Station. Both the projects have been delayed because of
poor mobilization of BHEL. It was agreed to have the inauguration of Kanti Unit-II
and Barh Unit II on 15th. Nov. 2014. Bihar CM further explained that
MOUs have been executed with NTPC and NHPC on 22.02.2014 for the implementation
of Lakhisarai Thermal Power project and Pirpainti Thermal Power Project
respectively. NTPC/NHPC are yet to get approval of the Ministry of power
for supply of 85% power to Bihar. In principle approval was given by Union
Minister.
The Bihar Chief Minister, Shri Manjhi requested Shri Goyal for assistance
of release of 3,000 crores BRGF from Planning Commission. Union Minister
promised to extend his help.
Shri Manjhi further requested the Union Power Minister, Shri Goyal for
central assistance for 24x7 power for six districts- Gaya, Nalanda, Patna,
Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, & Bhagalpur. The Union Power Minister assured his
ministry’s support for the entire state. The aforesaid districts would be taken
up in 1st phase and other districts would be taken up in subsequent
phases. The Union Power Minister, Shri Goyal said that the request of the CM
for allocation of 1500 MW from 2500 MW of Punatsangpchu I&II will be favourbly
examined by the Govt. of India. The Chief Minister, Shri Manjhi also raised the
issue for Coal Block for UMPP Banka and tapering Coal linkage for Pirpainti and
Kajara Projects.
Along with Bihar Chief minister and Union Power Minister, senior
officials of Govt. of India and Govt. of Bihar also participated in the
meeting.
