Gold medal to Bihar in IITF: Recognition to government efforts facilitating Women Entrepreneurship

New Delhi: Development Commissioner of Bihar cum chief guest for the functions held at IITF, S. K. Negi expressed happiness for ‘Gold Medal’ awarded to ‘Bihar Pavilion’. He said, “Gold medal has not only encouraged us but also ensures that development  
of women entrepreneurship in the state is being recognized at national level.” Mr.  Negi said that Bihar has made unprecedented progress and will continue so. He further added that the overall growing trend for industries in the state has promoted women's entrepreneurship. State government is dedicated to provide more facility and many things are to be done in this direction.
Dignitaries from the state were addressing a ‘PRESS MEET’ in the context of the ongoing India International Trade Fair, 2014 at Pragati Maidan. Additional Resident Commissioner Vipin Kumar while talking with the press in the sidelines said that the success of Bihar will be celebrated today on 23rd November, 2014 to mark the state day at 6 pm at Hansdhwani theater (Pragati Maidan). It will be a colorful event in which Satyendra Kumar (singer), Neelam Choudhary (dance) and other famous folk artists from Bihar will perform. Fair visitors can enjoy the program.
The Pavilion’s theme hall has been decorated as per theme. Pavilion’s fascia, is decorated with ‘Madhubani paintings’ on OSB board. Theme hall is showcasing the achievements of woman entrepreneurs with Handloom and Silk garments. The passage to Hall no-2 which is through theme hall, casement made up of bamboo is major attraction and at the same place, top has been decorated with very huge Jhumar (chandelier) based on ‘Sikki art’ which has been prepared at the site by women entrepreneur of Bihar. It will be the center of attraction for the visitors. Achievements and plans of theme related departments like Women Development Corporation, COMFED, Department of Industry, Tourism, Jivika, Information and Public Relations Department, Department of Art & Culture and department of Youth have been displayed with the help of attractive and innovative panels in Hall no.-1.

In Hall no.-2, “Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhan Sansthan” has made special arrangements for woman entrepreneurs so that they can show their creations live. Renu Devi from Madhubani is representing in Sikki art, Urupi Devi from Bhagalpur is presenting Manjusha art. TeraKota art is being represented by unique creations of Sri Jagdish Pandit from Darbhanga and Tikuli art is being shown by Smt. Ranjita Sinha. Another major attraction in this hall is a museum by “Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhan Sansthan”.  At the upper floor of the pavilion, there are 45 stalls in total. Some dedicated to famous Handloom, Bhagalpuri Silk, Tasar & Matka dress materials form the Bihar state and others are showcasing Handcrafts, Sikki, wood and bamboo crafts, Madhubani paintings, Jute & Lakh products along with embroidery products. Clusters associated with such arts & crafts, have been given special attention in the allotment of the stalls. It has provided them an opportunity to display and sale goods produced by their groups. Bihar pavilion is more visitors friendly this year. It has made arrangements for making payments by Credit cards also.

Director of Industries Shailesh Thakur, Pavilion Director Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Ashok Kumar Sinha from nodal agency Upendra Maharathi Craft Research Institute as well as officers from industry department, Bihar Government Yodyog Mitra, Upendra Maharathi Craft Research Institute and BIADA officers also graced the occasion.
